The Oceanside Unified School District, located in Oceanside, California, is home to 24 schools including 17 elementary schools, three middle schools, two comprehensive high schools and two alternative high schools.

Students from the two comprehensive high schools Oceanside High and El Camino gather in the Oceanside High School library to take part in “Students and Leaders.” This year, Oceanside High celebrates its centennial anniversary. The school has undergone a complete renovation including the construction of a new three-story Science and Technology building and complete modernization of classrooms, the library, gymnasium and administrative building. Construction was funded in part by a $125 million bond passed by Oceanside voters in 2000.

Both El Camino and Oceanside High Schools promote the district’s mission, which is to ensure that every student graduates and has the ability to succeed in the global community.

from San Diego Magazine's "50 People to Watch in 2006":
"Chancellor of the San Diego Community College District, the nation’s sixth largest (with 100,000-plus students), Carroll is applauded for her negotiating skills, sound business acumen and accessibility. She’s cochair of the statewide organization for community college "equalization" -getting more money for low-revenue districts, such as San Diego-and will be active politically this year, she says, “so that students can be assured of the same advantages and support no matter what college they choose to attend.”

Dr. Carroll received her B.A. in Humanities from Duquesne University, her M.A. in Classics from the University of Pittsburgh, and her Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been Chancellor of San Diego Community College District since July, 2004. Prior to this position, Dr. Carroll served as President of San Diego Mesa College from 1993-2004. Chancelor Carroll was also President of Saddleback College and Indian Valley Colleges.

Dr. Carroll serves on numerous national educational boards and is a member of many community organizations. In addition, Dr. Carroll has been a keynote speaker, featured presenter and panelist at numerous national, state, regional and local conferences and conventions.
