From the web site and newsletter of City Hall Academy:
City Hall Academy is a laboratory school that supplements the education of New York City students by providing standards-based learning experiences and enrichment activities during and after school hours. It also serves as a model professional development laboratory that helps teachers improve their craft. The Academy began in March 2003 and this semester is offering about 100 high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to examine the issues affecting city residents while fulfilling their graduation requirement in government. Located in the historic Tweed Courthouse adjacent to City Hall, the Academy was a part of the vision of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg who advocated for a public school to be established there as an example of what is possible for the city's 1.1 million school children.
